Razer wants to level the playing field for all virtual reality developers

Razer is attempting to bring some order to the Wild West of virtual reality by releasing an open-source VR ecosystem, OSVR, that will tie together several game engines, input methods and competing headsets, the company announced at CES Tuesday morning.

OSVR has been in the works at Razer for four and a half years, Razer co-founder and CEO Min-Liang Tan told Mashable. He described it as the “Android of virtual reality,” a free platform open to all intended to standardize the complicated requirements for adding virtual reality to games and other experiences.
